Bespoke Leather Commissions

One-of-a-kind leather artifacts, designed and handmade just for you

FAQ

Can you copy another maker’s work or a branded design?

No. I’m happy to be inspired by general styles and moods, but I won’t reproduce another maker’s design or a protected brand piece.

How long do bespoke commissions take?

This depends on complexity and my current schedule. As a rough guide, most bespoke projects take 1-2 weeks from the point of paying the deposit. I’ll give you a more precise estimate once we’ve agreed on the design.

Can I return or exchange a bespoke piece?

Because bespoke items are made specifically to your design, they’re non-returnable and non-exchangeable, unless there is a clear fault with the craftsmanship or materials. If that ever happens, please contact me so I can make it right.

  • Sometimes the piece you’re imagining doesn’t exist in any collection. This page is for those one-off ideas: a custom-sized journal cover, a unique tarot or zodiac piece, a desk mat with personal symbolism, or a small leather artifact designed around a specific person or ritual. I take on a limited number of bespoke commissions so I can give each one the time and attention it deserves.

  • Is a bespoke commission right for you?

Bespoke might be a good fit if:

    • You like my existing work but need a different size or layout.
    • You want to combine elements from a few of my designs into one piece.
    • You’re looking for a special gift (anniversary, graduation, initiation, etc.).
    • You want to incorporate specific symbolism – zodiac, tarot, runes, moon phases, or a meaningful phrase.

If you’re unsure whether your idea fits, you can still use the form below – I’ll let you know honestly if I’m the right maker for the project.

  • What I typically take on

I usually accept commissions that stay within my existing materials and style, such as:

    • Custom sizes and formats:
      – Covers for specific notebooks (Moleskine, Leuchtturm1917, etc.)
      – Tarot / oracle / rune mats in custom sizes or shapes
      – Desk and altar mats tailored to your space
    • Layout variations:
      – Extra pockets, card slots, slip pockets, pen loops
      – Alternative interior layouts based on how you use the piece
    • Symbolism & inscription:
      – Zodiac signs, tarot archetypes, constellations, runes, moon phases
      – Short inscriptions: names, dates, short phrases or mottos
      – Discreet coordinates or important dates inside the piece
    • Aesthetic options:
      – Leather colour from my current palette
      – Thread colour choices
      – Edge treatments and hardware finishes from the options I stock
  • Projects I usually decline

To protect my time (and your expectations), I typically say no to:

    • Requests to copy another maker’s design or a specific branded product
    • Hyper-realistic portraits or highly detailed illustration-style carving
    • Large batch / wholesale orders for brand-new designs
    • Projects outside my style (e.g. ultra-minimal corporate branding with no character)
    • Very tight deadlines that don’t allow for proper design and making time
  • How the commission process works

    Step 1 – Enquiry
You complete the commission enquiry form below with as much detail as you can: what you’d like, rough size, symbolism, and your ideal budget and timeline.

    Step 2 – Fit & ballpark
I’ll review your idea and let you know if it’s a good fit. If it is, I’ll give you a ballpark price range and a rough timeframe. If it isn’t, I’ll say so kindly – no hard feelings.

    Step 3 – Design & consultation fee
To move into proper design work, there is a non-refundable design & consultation fee of £30 (deducted from the final price if you go ahead).
This covers design time, measurements, material planning, and messaging back and forth.

(Note: Consultation Fees aren't required for minor design changes to my existing collection.)

  • Step 4 – Design proposal
Once the fee is paid, I’ll prepare one main design proposal (with measurements, layout and key details) plus one round of small tweaks if needed.

The design fee includes one revision round. Further design changes can be made, but will be billed separately at £10 per revision.

Step 5 – Deposit & booking your slot
When you’re happy with the design, a 50% non-refundable deposit secures your place in the workshop schedule. I’ll give you an estimated completion window at this stage.

Step 6 – Making your piece
I hand-craft your piece in the studio. For longer projects, I may send you one or two progress photos. Once it’s finished, I’ll send final photos and your remaining 50% balance is due before shipping.
