A handmade full-grain leather Elder Futhark rune set, for divination, spiritual guidance, meditation, and personal growth. The set includes twenty-four runes to represent the different symbols, plus a blank rune for those who practice with the extra piece. I have purposely kept this design simple and distraction free, which means the reverse side of each rune is completely blank.
The photos feature Walnut, Green & Royal Blue.
Inspiration
Whilst researching different practices to expand my knowledge, I learned about Elder Futhark rune sets. As I love the smell, feel and sound of leather, I immediately had to prototype an Elder Futhark set which turned out beautifully. Shaking and handling the pieces is so satisfying for my audible and tactile senses. Unlike wooden and stone runes, the sound of them jingling together has a muted and warmer tone.

How it's made
The decorative front is made from full-grain 5oz (2.5mm) vegetable-tanned leather. I've carefully finished the leather to achieve a rich, wooden sheen that enhances its natural beauty. Each piece is embossed with an Elder Futhark rune symbol.
The reverse side features full-grain 5oz (2.5mm) vegetable-tanned leather, also finished to complement the front. This side has purposely been left blank.
To bring the two pieces of leather together, they are adhered with water-based contact cement. The edges are carefully hand-painted in leather acrylic paint for both visual appearance and protection. This meticulous process not only ensures the set's longevity but also highlights the quality of the piece.

- Due to the dyeing process, the colour may vary slightly depending on the area of the leather.
- As full-grain leather undergoes minimal processing, natural wrinkles may remain visible and their patterns can vary from piece to piece.
- With natural leather, some blemishes are to be expected, though I always do my best to keep these to a minimum.

Made-to-order items take approximately 7-10 working days to produce. The production process involves multiple stages, including tooling, dyeing, and antiquing, which require 2-3 days of drying time before assembly and packaging.
